Storm, Juan
Uruguayan painter born in 1927 in Montevideo (Uruguay) and deceased at same city in 1995. Since 1952 studied with Alceu Ribeiro and since 1954 at Torres García School with Julio U. Alpuy.
Realized individual exhibitions at Amigos del Arte in 1957 (Uruguay); Moretti Gallery in 1960, 1964,1967, 1970, 1973 and 1976 (Uruguay); Aele Gallery of Madrid in 1975 (Spain); Vermeer Gallery of Buenos Aires in 1978,1980, 1984 and 1986 (Argentina); Latina Gallery in 1981 and 1986 (Uruguay); Brela Gallery in 1982 (Uruguay); Uruguayan Embassy in Argentina in 1986; Recoleta Cultural Center in 1991 (Argentina); Sur Gallery in 1992 and 1993 (Uruguay). Take part in several colective travelling exhibitions and at Cuenca's Biennial in 1989 (Ecuador).
In 1977 was appointed "Painter of the Year" by "El País" Newspaper (Montevideo, Uruguay); select to take part at Figari Prize Contest of Uruguayan Central Bank in 1995.
Juan Storm search, inside Torres García School tradition, a synthesis with other experiences: one exactly our and contradictory conciliations, own of manierism, between Torres García and Pedro Figari language.
His works are Art Museum of Madrid (Spain) and National Visual Arts Museum of Montevideo (Uruguay).
